秀丽花园之光
(麻坡26日讯)“人老心不老”这一句话对官召浓而言,一点都没错。
数日前在于新山国际会展中心举行的“2009年柔州乐龄日”, 来自麻坡秀丽花园的官召浓荣获柔佛州妇女及家庭发展`社会福利及卫生委员会主席罗比雅州行政议员颁发“柔州杰出表现乐龄奖”。(Anugerah Warga Emas Peringkat Johor)
73岁的官氏是位退休商人,也是麻坡秀丽花园居委会主席。他平常活跃于数个会馆和本地社团。在2008年期间,他曾荣获麻坡警区主任表扬。这一次能获州政府表扬是因为他对社区邻里做出多项贡献。
他所领导的居民委员会和其花园所推动的“警察之友(Rakan Cop)“和“社区警察”(Community Policing) 概念不只得到大部分居民们的热烈回响,还获得官方如柔州警方与团结部的认同。
当问起得奖的感受,官召浓表示这一个奖对他个人是一种鼓励,不过他强调这一个奖项是属于花园里的每一个居民。
他打趣的说:“人生嘛,生来伟大,死也要死得光荣。人们笑我这老头子活到一大把年纪还搞什么居委会。我到感觉得责任重大但非常有意义。在提倡守望相助的过程中,我认识很多热心的邻居和年轻人,让我体会的做人一定要活到老学到老,而且不可以时时都认老!”
他希望退休人士可以多关怀社会,不一定是有钱才可以服务社会。只要尽力而为就好,小小的努力也可以建立政府所鼓吹的爱心社会。
精神奕奕的他也分享他防老的秘密。第一,早睡早起,多运动。第二,凡事要保持乐观心情。第三,忙碌充实自己在于社区活动。
秀丽花园副秘书郑新财则表示,官召浓虽是七十高龄,不过他有着年轻人一般的动力与破力。每当召开居民会会议时,他的民主作风受到理事们的赞赏,相信大家对这位元老更是疼爱有加。
对于官召浓这次得奖,可说是"花园之光","众望所归"。
Muar, 26 March 2009 Mr.Koon Chew Fatt,Chairman of TSM was awarded an oustanding Senior Citizen Award by Johor Women, Families Affairs & Welfare Exco member Dr.Robia binti Hj.Kosai recently.
Mr.Koon Chew Fatt, aged 73, a retired businessman,is an active executive member in various local associations and clans. He was awarded a letter of appreciation by Muar OCPD in 2008. He has been recognised for his many extra ordinary contributions towards his housing estate, Taman Sri Maharani(TSM) in Muar.
Under the dynamic leadeship of Koon, TSM has been successful in adopting Rakan Cop and Community Policing among the 150 households at TSM. TSM is now regarded as a role model among the many housing estates within Johor.
When asked about what he felt. He says:" The award is an encouragement for me personally, it motiviates me to continue and help others. Afterall, this is not a personal win but this award belongs to every TSM resident!"
He continues:
"Many friends laughed at me because they felt I should go easy with life but not to get involved in neighborhood affairs but I thought otherwise. "
'Through neighborhood watch programs I befriended many nice people who cares for our housing estate. I also felt younger when the young people participated actively in TSM activities."
Koon felt that more senior citizens should continue to assist the society because as long as you tried your very best in doing so, you have done a great job by promoting the Government's call for a caring society-Masyarakat penyayang.
When asked about his secrets of being healthy, he gave 3 tips:
1)Sleep early, wake up early and exercise more.
2)Keep a happy mood
3)Keep yourself busy in community work
Mr.Tee Seng Chai, assistant secretary of TSM said although Koon is already 70 plus, but he has a youthful energy that many young people envied. During meetings, many residents liked his democratic nature and he worked very well with young people too.
Having said that, TSM residents are proud of him and wishing him to remain in the pink of health always.
